Oh the dilemma~

Pokémon Tower, Lavender Town

(theory)
In the original Pokémon Red/Blue, when you encounter your rival in Lavender Town he asks whether or not you know what it’s like to have one of your Pokémon die. At this point in the game, he no longer has his Raticate that he used in previous battles. Your rival battle before this took place aboard the S.S. Anne. Your rival’s Raticate sustained serious injuries from the battle… but, because crowding and confusion on the luxury liner, he was unable to make it to a Pokémon Center in time and the Raticate passed away.

The real reason your rival is in Lavender Town to begin with is to lay his deceased friend to rest. Despite all of this, your rival never outwardly tells you that you’re responsible for the death of his Pokémon. He hides his grief and instead channels that energy into the motivation he needed to continue his quest to become Indigo League Champion.

The death of his Raticate effectively destroys your rival’s impish, childhood innocence. Although he tells himself that he doesn’t hold you responsible, he subconsciously holds a great deal of resentment towards you which further fuels his ambitions. Tearfully swearing upon his Raticate’s grave to not fail in what he set out to do, he trains hard in hopes of becoming better than you… defeating you… and to eventually make it to the Pokémon League.

Mere moments after he became Indigo League champion, he was defeated… by you. Although he fulfilled his promise to his fallen Pokémon, it was only for a painfully brief instant. In the end, your rival is scolded by his grandfather while you receive the professor’s praise.

During the course of the game, you steal your rival’s innocence, crush his dreams, and ultimately snatch away the love of his own grandfather.

Oh, and by the way, your rival doesn’t have any parents. He’s an orphan.

So in short Gary's misunderstood and you're an asshole. The end. =_=

Arcade and Genting

Playing KOF again...feels like meeting an old lover whom you've never really forgotten or gotten over with. A bit awkward but not unwelcome.

My standard...practically plummeted. TT__TT I've started out with my Classic team again (B.Jenne, Luise, Ash) and hopefully will be able to bring my other spammers (ie. Kula, Ninon.etc) back to where they were. Spammers. In every aspect of the word.

Jubeat today was disappointing when the Internet connection of the arcade was down. The game hung at least 3 times when I played different songs. Hung as in the music continues playing but the markers stop flashing completely, but the game and counter actually still goes on. I failed Level 7 'Share the World' for crying out loud. And I have never failed 'Share the World' before.

Speaking of which, there's a fail rip-off version of Jubeat on Genting Highlands, called 'Magic' or 'Magic Box' or something along those lines.

My first reaction upon seeing the machine itself was to go 'Holy crap they have Jubeat! Why didn't I bring my e-amusement pass along? D8"

'HOLY CRAP IT'S JUBEAT!!!'

A couple of songs from their song repertoire includes 'levan polka' (one of the only songs that I'm perfectly fine with), 'Go!' (as in the Naruto theme song), 'We Are!' (One Piece theme song and probably representative of the entire series), Wonder Girls' 'Nobody', Jay Chou's 'Niu Zai Hen Mang', a couple of Jolin Tsai's songs, a Richie Ren (Ren Xian Qi) song where I forgot its name, 'Bu De Bu Ai' (oh the nostalgia)..............................................................................................and Justin Bieber's 'Baby'.

...*recoils in horror* THE FAIL. IT BURNS. KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!

And guess what, 'Baby''s level 10 on Extreme mode. And I actually played the song. (only to see how long I could tolerate the fail before I actually get driven insane or beat someone up)

...truth be told, it'll most likely end up as level 6 or 7 in the original Jubeat series. The patterns aren't too complicated and the only reason why it fails (other than the song) is because of the markers that are ALSO fail. Those damned things just don't follow the tempo and appear in the wrong timing, sometimes in very weird positions and patterns as well.

So all in all, the game was just one gigantic piece of fail. At least they don't have Rebecca Black's 'Friday'. I think I might end up murdering the first person who talks to me after playing the song. Oh the Fail...

And damn you Genting, for removing House of the Dead 3. GIVE ME BACK MY SHOTGUN!!!!!!! D8< And yet you keep House of the Dead 2. ...I really don't understand your rationale of doing things.

House of the Dead 4 now has to be played on a screen 1.5x smaller than its original size...so now it's like blasting zombie heads on your home TV LCD screen. ...hm. And where did all the fighting games other than Street Fighter go? ...hm. Lastly...why the increase of kiddy games? Trying to cheat kids' money? ...hm.

WHY. SO. FAIL.

...at least they have relatively decent gasha and CDs. I turned out a panda macaron phone strap (shut up, Noel) and a bird shaped one. And why the sudden decision to turn cute gasha? To start off my journey to becoming girly. (scream, you know you want to) Because for some reason the anime ones just doesn't cut it anymore.

CDs-wise, they were clearing stock, I think. Mainly the Mainstream ones but with some others. I bought Queen Absolute Greatest (and from how they sounded, they really WERE the absolute greatest)

Short rant on music

I find it simply DOWNRIGHT UNFAIR. For Daemon Bride, and its OSTs to be so dang understated. Especially the character songs. Sure it doesn't sound as bad-ass as Blazblue OSTs (Daisuke Ishiwatari FTW!!!!!!!!!) but they're good for people who like classic rock that teeters almost to the speed metal side, or for the people who like the rock/metal fusion genre. Like me.

Character song-wise, one example is "Uso" ("Lies") by Emiri Katou (Lucifel/Shiffon), a beautiful but sad piece, especially when she hits the high notes, she doesn't sound too strained or too annoying.

Another is "Daylight Moon" by Michael (not sure about voice actor name) and Taniyama Kishou (Reizel) for both the angels and demons' sides respectively. The former sounding calming, angelic and comforting, while the latter's version sounding a bit protective, and edges more towards the 'ending' feel where upon hearing the music lets you know that you've spent a good deal of effort in finishing the game, therefore you can now kick back and relax to enjoy the music and credits.

On another note, after I complained, moaned, complained somemore, got pissed, complained more, moped, complained, criticized, complained and flipped a table, Evanescence FINALLY came up with a new album. To which I've only heard the first track as of now, but from what I've heard, they've cut down on the emo and upped the bad-ass, which is a very big plus in my book.

And~ before I forget, if you're even reading this, no your CD's not with me, nii-san. But thanks for the Britney, Avril and Lady Gaga CDs.

Arcade Etiquette

I've always tolerated arcade antics. And it took more than 12 years to actually make me break and write this.

ARCADE ETIQUETTE

For the new generation of arcade gamers who act like monkeys in the arcade or as if their grandfather OWNS the freaking place or that particular game.

1. Wait for your turn.

Explanation: It's bloody obvious.

But for the sake of elaboration I quote wikihow.

"If a game is being played by others, wait until they're finished before you attempt to play. Do not crowd them, or make them feel as if they have to rush. They have paid to play the game, and are just as entitled to enjoy it as you are."

2. Don't crowd. Or stay too close to another player.

Explanation: Some players get nervous when people crowd. I'm one of them who feels extra pressurized when someone crowds me. And for not staying too close, this applies especially for jubeat or games that require movement of your limbs. I'm sure you don't want to get a nose-bleed or broken nose just because you're standing next to a guy who accidentally elbowed you in the face.

3. Take care of your own belongings.

Explanation: Another bloody obvious rule. Happened to me once when I was playing Jubeat and someone made off with my wallet. It's not nice to find your wallet missing after you've enjoyed an arcade game. Either put your wallet in your pocket or somewhere inside your bag itself, then on the floor. And always check your belongings before leaving.

4. Don't swear at or hit the game.

Explanation: It's not the machine's fault that you suck or that your teacher's an asshole or that your best friend's PMS-ing. And if you happen to be in a game tournament you could very well get kicked out, because in professional gaming it counts as a foul. Moreover, if you hit the game and damage the console/platform, be ready to shorten your lifespan from the cursing of the other players who play the game as well.

5. Don't mouth-off, insult or crap-talk other players even if they're weaker than you.

Explanation:

--> Even if they're not as good as you are, they still have a right to play and enjoy themselves. Or at least pick up and learn the game if they are learning it.

--> It's bloody rude, immature and makes you look like an asshole.

--> You hurt their feelings.

--> You may potentially scare them off the game for a good while, or FOR GOOD.

This happened to me when I was still in secondary school, when I was innocent and nice and Hinata-like and all~ *gets bricked by many people* =___=;;

...Then this *GAKI* appears and beat me hands-down in KOF 2002 when it was still in the hype back then. He proceeded to follow me WHEREVER I go, and to WHICHEVER game I play, taunting and insulting me about how bad I was at playing. Until he said (in Chinese) "Play for so long already still so sucky. GO BE PROSTITUTE LAH!!" *goes Kenpachi on him now*

Though I think he didn't know the weight of his words at that time, he gave me quite a good dent to my pride. I stayed away from KOF 2002 and that arcade afterwards.

6. Don't complain about "cheap" moves in player-vs-player games.

Explanation:

--> Though cheap, it may be a widely accepted strategy or tactic among tournament level players.

--> It's the opponent's or YOUR own play-style. No one really has the right to criticise anyone's playstyle unless it jeopardizes the game. (to be elaborated in next section)

--> You can only blame your luck or your lack of ability to counter when losing to a spammer, if you're facing one.

7. When it comes to co-op games, YOU JOLLY WELL CO-OP AND DO YOUR PART.

Explanation: What's the purpose of a co-op game if you and your partner DON'T co-operate with each other? (unless you're trying to pull a Battle Royale scenario and are therefore trying to beat each other down or do each other in)

Eg. Powerstone 2.

I got very pissed at this kid yesterday whom I played Powerstone 2 with. Because his playstyle is VERY COWARDLY, in my opinion. So what does he do? Make his character stand on top of a pillar or some very high ground and wait for the battle-field and tides to shift. AT A BOSS STAGE AND IN FRONT OF THE BOSS WHILE I GOT SLICED, HAMMERED, BURNED, BOMBED, ICED, SHOT, AXED, ELECTROCUTED AND CHOMPED ON. Then we both die.

Ticked off at this, I asked him why he never did anything on the sidelines, this was his reply.

"In Powerstone you need to wait to survive." or something along those lines.

NO. In Powerstone, where you play as a single player, FINE, since the CPU characters can be very stupid; in 2-player scenarios, however, it becomes a co-op game where you try to co-operate to take the CPU down and survive. Especially for final boss stage where you try to deal as much damage to the boss as possible.

IF YOU'RE GOING TO STAND THERE AND DO NOTHING YOU MIGHT AS WELL DON'T PLAY.

Nii-san's otherwise fine. He makes a very good partner especially for House of the Dead 4. =w=

8. Don't eat and leave your trash at the game console.

Explanation: It's inconsiderate and surely you don't expect the others to clean up the mess for you??

9. "I'm going home" is not a valid excuse for me to let you go first.

Explanation: This seems to be a popular excuse among some gamers. "I need to go home", plops down the credit, proceeds to pwn me and fight until boss stage. What happened to going home?

"I'm going home soon.", taps one credit on the Jubeat machine, then taps another one after I tapped. Then after that, I told him to let nii-san go first because nii-san needs to go back to work. He repeats "I'm going home soon".

"MY FRIEND NEEDS TO GO BACK TO WORK." was my reaction. He succumbed. And nii-san proceeded to call me a shrew, said that I was so fierce and that he didn't believe that I'll actually yell at the kid with his parent around. To anyone who reads this...don't be like me. +____+;;;; I still feel somewhat guilty for yelling at him.

And I'm seriously sick of this excuse. If you tell me that you need to go home and actually slot or plop another credit into the machine, this tells me that you still have time and that you didn't need to go home urgently. Since I come before you, why should I let you have the game if you can wait and you have time? This is how I read it.

10. Behave yourself and watch your conduct.

Explanation:

--> Imagine a Wangan player using almost something that resembles "降龍十八掌" on the gear control and swearing like a hooligan. Then, imagine a lower Secondary schoolboy screaming beside you, voice not yet cracked. This followed by a kid who makes loud sounds effects while playing PowerStone.

Cosfest XI...well, fair share of noobs, number of cosplayers who most likely never even bothered about make-up or about the correct details =A= (what kind of Chrome has BLACK hair? No pineapple hairstyle somemore =A= Mukuro will be disappointed) ...a fat Byakuya that Hakimah told us to turn away from whenever he was near, a Gokudera with breasts, a Belphegor with leggings *resists temptation to look at legs*, and a few group of awesomesauce cosplayers. Usually from the game side, Dynasty Warriors, if I'm not wrong.

There was also a SUPER BISHIE ITACHI. *drools and nose-bleeds* Not only a very nice male Itachi (finally) but also has a bishie voice. And he talked to us. *le-kyah* Must not kidnap. OMG. *spazzes* XD

And there was a team where this girl had a loooooooonnnnnnnggggg tail upt to the point that she has to stay in a spot and shoot. Many people went there to take photos of her anyway. =_=;

Next, merchandise-wise, there were some unreasonably priced ones. Who sells bookmarks for $2.50? Yet 4 for $6. That's just...not reasonable. =A=;; Still blew off quite an amount on merchandise though. =_=;; Therefore, I now need someone to pay e back the money she owes. *Kokonoe pre-scolding smile no jutsu*

I buy for you your fox-tail no need pay le ah? Next month...next month...next month. It's already the end of June, miss. Don't give me that 'I have school therefore cannot work' excuse. I almost thought I was going to be crippled for Monday. =w=; Met up with Hakimah first at Burger King. Turns out that Gladys and Azmah would be late and therefore we had to wait...and Hakimah had to draw Beelzebub's emblem on her hand, conveniently forgetting that she follows manga version and thought that it was black. o_o; The emblem turned out to be red and so...being the cheapos that we were...first using Hakimah's eye-shadow to outline the emblem then we headed for Watsons to use the lip-liner testers to draw over. ^_^;;;;;

Then...Gladys arrived, and so did Azmah, then came photo-taking. In short, Mugi is popular. 8D ...now for some reason I think we might have stalkers. o3o;;

And yet I can't find any of our photos at all from sgcafe.com. I just realised that people tend to go for the more...elaborate cosplays; this explains why casual cosplay don't have much stalking from photographers. Oh yes, there was also a Taigong at Cosfest. And another Mugi. Same version as Gladys somemore. But Hakimah's and Gladys's versions are nicer. :D I mean seriously. I suspect that the other Mugi didn't put on make-up. I was blind somemore (without glasses) and I could tell. o_o;;

Now...after Cosfest, I've come to realise a few things that doesn't interest the majority of you out there:

1. Its not about how many photogs taking pictures of you. Its about how much you enjoyed cosplaying. If you did, even if no one took pictures, you'll still be happy. (although this is something that I SHOULD have realised much much earlier =~=)

2. Don't cosplay because you need to, cosplay because you WANT to.

3. Extension of above point, EOY 2011: 85% inspired for Soi Fon Shinigami version. Even if I might have to redo the haori.

4. I now will do what I want. *hints*

5. People, let's do Beelzebub again. This time in an air-conditioned place. XD

On an irrelevant note, I finally found another K-pop song that doesn't rot my mind other than BoA, Tohoshinki and BIGBANG's 'Haru Haru'. Then again the majority of the lyrics are English. ^_^;;

Taiwan Day 1

Arrived at Taiwan, Taipei. Start of pic-spam. Below is the toilet of a 5 star hotel. *_* describes the room perfectly. (They have bathtubs!!!!) And I forgot to take a picture of the room. =_=; LOL Fail.

That's the hotel. Taken at Day 2 before leaving the hotel. According to the tour guide, one night in this hotel costs around $400 to $500 Sing dollars. oAo; But I can understand why the cost. This hotel is not for poor people. =_=;

Didn't take any pictures at Xi Men Ding or the night market. Was too busy shopping. XD Which was...kind of just as well. The bag I bought at Zinc with nii-san decided to give up on me by exposing my belongings to the mass public...if I could put it that way. Not that it snapped, but the zip refuses to work anymore...so yeah. Bought quite a number of things (mostly clothes as well as a new bag) at the night market.

And also picked up anime merchandise at this AWESOMESAUCE shop at the entrance of Xi Men Ding. DAMN COOL LOR. 3 storeys worth of merchandise. Doujinshi, character and anime OSTs (THEY EVEN HAVE GERORIN'S COVER CD!!!!!!! 8D) , artbooks, figurines, cosplay costumes and one entire storey dedicated to solely merchandise with a couple of cosplay costumes and even wigs. *A* OPEN ONE IN SINGAPORE!!!!!!!11!!!!!!! 8D Then we'll all go there clean the shop.

Didn't have enough time to take pictures at Xi Men Ding because the tour guide gave us only 1 hour to stay at Xi Men Ding. So I only had time to grab Wen Hui and nii-san's merchandise, as well as 2 Hetalia files and a Project Diva keychain (I got Miku =_=). *claws at glass*

Went to Yehliu on the second day. The venue is Yeliu Geopark.

I've no idea who that person in the picture was but one thing was for sure. There were a lot of China tourists. And they just kept blocking me from taking a proper picture of the place's name...one after another they just kept flooding in. Until, I finally thought it was clear, I snapped a picture and this lady just happened to be very opportunistic and rushed in. Then my camera saved. =A= *rage* Then she leaves. I see she leave I very happy and I take again.Then she cme back. OEI. WHAT YOU WANT LAH. PEOPLE WANT TO TAKE PICTURE, YOU $%^&#$!&**&$#!!!

Tio bird poo. =~=; And moved on to the Cultural Village like place where for some reason, there's Naruto gasha. But I never go and turn that one. Later get Sasuke and end up using him as punching bag (or maybe flicking sandbag, since gasha keychains are small XD). LOL.

"Tang Cong" shop selling a very special type of candy that looks like "mai ya tang" but its not. According to the shopkeeper, the traditional method of making "tang cong" is now extinct to the Taiwan except this place; the ONLY place in Taiwan that sells "tang cong", where she could very well not be boasting about its heritage. Other than this place, I never saw any more shops like this ONE. On a further note, the "tang cong" roll where she wrapped a stick of tang cong using popiah skin with vegetables, peanut powder and some other ingredients IS SUPER NICE.

Before we leave the Cultural Village to take the train to Hualian.

After reaching Hualian, we got onto the bus again and the tour guide took us to the coastline where you can reach Japan by swimming for two months non-stop. *bricked*

Buffet dinner at the hotel cafeteria. Had two plates of pasta plus rice, veggies and beef gravy. And ice-cream. Now dessert. (I was very hungry, okay =A=)
